About your role
The Junior User Experience Designer plays a vital role in creating an intuitive, accessible, and engaging experience on Fairphone's direct sales channel: www.fairphone.com.

Working closely with the ‘Lead Digital Product Designer’, ‘UX Researcher’, ‘CRO Specialist’, ‘Product Owner’, and the wider multidisciplinary team, this role is centred on translating user needs and business goals into effective, user-centred UX design solutions. You will focus on optimising the customer journey across the supporting areas of the site, supporting our Lead Designer and directly impacting our Direct Sales, as well as contributing to our Service towards existing customers.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Junior designer to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced e-commerce environment and contribute to a meaningful, mission-driven company.
Key Responsibilities & Objectives
Key Objectives
The core objectives for this role focus on leveraging design to improve the performance and quality of the Fairphone website experience:
  • Increase Website Conversion Rates for all Fairphone’s products
  • Improve Website CSAT Score by ensuring a seamless and positive user experience.
  • Support Self Service

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Prototype: Create wireframes, user flows, and low-fidelity prototypes for new and existing pages on fairphone.com (focusing on product display, marketing, and support pages).
  • Design System Adherence: Ensure all designs align with the existing design system and brand guidelines.
  • UX audit & Optimisation: Be proactive in reviewing new and existing designs (UX/UI) across the life website to identify user experience issues, accessibility gaps, and other areas for improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in design critiques, sprint refinements, and work closely with the Product Owner and development team.
  • Research Support: Support the UX Researcher and CRO Specialist in planning and executing usability tests, A/B tests, and gathering qualitative and quantitative user feedback.
Your Skills & Experience
  • Design Tool Proficiency: Initial exposure to and the ability to learn UX design tools quickly (e.g., Figma design, Figma make).
  • UX Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of and eagerness to apply user-centred design principles and methodologies.
  • Research & Testing Support: Ability to assist in user research and usability testing activities, indicating an understanding of common user research tools (e.g., Hotjar, Baymard).
  • Accessibility Awareness: Basic knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.
  • Data-Driven Mindset: Exposure to data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and an interest in using data to inform design decisions.
  • Agile Familiarity: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum).
  • Interest in AI automation: Familiarity with or curiosity about how AI tools can automate repetitive design tasks or personalise user experiences.
